Delhi CM Inaugurates Revamped Chandni Chowk Stretch; Street Food Till Midnight & No Traffic Zone
The 1.3-kilometre stretch of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk between Red Fort and Fatehpuri Mosque is ready with its new look. The redeveloped and beautification work on the stretch had started in December 2018. The revamped stretch looks stunning with green zones and a smooth road. The beautification of this stretch aims to give a huge boost to the city’s tourism industry. On September 12, 2021, Delhi Cheif Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the renovated Chandni Chowk market. Street food joints can operate in the market till midnight. As per reports, the road will also have CCTV cameras and a multi-level parking by Omaxe Ltd.
The Stretch Will Be A Non-Motorised Zone From 9 AM To 9 PM
The government has renovated the stretch between Red Fort and Fatehpuri Mosque in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk to make it more marvellous, clean and green. According to The Hindu report, the government stated that the zone has been revamped to restore the glory of the historical marketplace so that people from all over the world can visit it. Also, the stretch will be a non-motorised zone from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

The Redevelopment Work Got Delayed Due To COVID-19
The stretch has a 2.5-metre footpath on either side of the road. The redevelopment work was scheduled to be completed by November 2020. But it got delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The estimated cost of the project had been around ₹99 crores. Also, small and big plants have been placed on both sides of the road. Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg In South Delhi Has Got A Stunning Makeover With Selfie Points, Fountains & Greenery
Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in South Delhi has undergone a facelift with widened footpaths, bicycle tracks, four selfie points, fountains, artistic benches and more. The beautified stretch of road lies between Chirag Dilli and Sheikh Sarai. The beautification has also incorporated an emphasis on roadside greenery. The authority has also made a provision of 11,000-litre water tanks for the maintenance of the green zones. According to a Times of India report, Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said that gardeners and guards will also be deployed so that maintenance does not become an issue. The project is aimed to benefit residents of nearby areas as well like Chirag Dilli, Sheikh Sarai, Pushp Vihar, Krishna Vihar and Ambedkar Nagar. Reportedly, 10 more corridors in the city will undergo renovation on this model.
