Ayodhya To Light 7.5 Lakh Diyas This Diwali; Aims For Guinness Record

This year, the Ayodhya administration will light 7.5 lakh diyas to celebrate Deepotsav in the city. On Diwali, the earthen lamps will be lit on the banks of river Saryu at Ram Ki Paidi ghat. By illuminating 7.5 lakh diyas, Ayodhya is aiming to create a new Guinness World Record. The event will be organised with around 7000 volunteers. A team from the Guinness World Record will also be present to witness and assess the event. Deepotsav celebration had started in Ayodhya in 2017, after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to power in Uttar Pradesh. This year, Ayodhya will celebrate its fifth Deepotsav.

The Administration Will Conduct Three Runs Before The Final Event

The festival of lights, Diwali, will be celebrated on November 4 this year. During Diwali, Ayodhya will light 7.5 lakh diyas at Ram Ki Paidi ghat. According to a Hindustan Times report, officials have said that the Ayodhya administration will involve around 7000 volunteers for the event and most of them will be students from Ayodhya’s Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University. The lighting of lamps during Deepotsav is also coupled with a laser show. The administration will also conduct three trial runs before the final event.

Ayodhya Aims To Create Guinness World Record This Deepotsav

Last year, Ayodhya had lit 6,06,569 diyas at the Ram Ki Paidi ghat and some other ghats during Deepotsav. 4,10,000 diyas were lit in the city during the festival in 2019. This year, the city aims to set a record with 7.5 lakh diyas to create a Guinness World Record. In 2020, the administration had allowed only locals to attend the celebrations due to COVID-19.  Meanwhile, IRCTC Has Announced 4 Days 5 Nights Packages To Varanasi, Ayodhya & Prayagraj At ₹28,755 Per Person.
